The Plant Library filter helps you narrow down thousands of plants to find exactly what you need for your design. Instead of scrolling through every option, you can specify requirements like sun exposure, water needs, or plant size to see only plants that fit your criteria.
- Click the Plant icon on the right side of your screen
- Click the filter icon (funnel) next to the search bar
- Selectyour filtering criteria:
- Hardiness Zone - Automatically set based on your location, but can be adjusted
- Sun Requirements - Full sun, partial shade, or full shade
- Water Needs - Low, moderate, or high water requirements
- Plant Height - Set minimum and maximum height ranges
- Plant Width - Set minimum and maximum width ranges
- Bloom Time - Filter by flowering season
- Plant Function - Bloom, Foliage, Texture
- And more characteristics
- Click Apply (or the filter automatically updates as you select options)
- Browse your filtered results
Important: Filters only apply to plants that have data for the selected characteristic. If a plant doesn't have a "water needs" value in our database, it will still appear when you filter by water needs - even if it might not match otherwise.
To clear filters:
Click "Clear all filters" or remove individual filter selections.
⚠️ Can't find a plant you're looking for? Active filters might be hiding it! If you've set filters and then can't find plants you know should be there, check your filter settings. For example, if you've filtered for "Full Sun" plants, shade-loving plants won't appear even if you search for them by name. Click "Clear all filters" to see all available plants again.
Pro tip: Filters work across all views - search results, plant types, combinations, and collections all respect your active filters. This makes it easy to narrow down any list of plants to exactly what you need.
