How do I select and move several items at once?
Select multiple design elements at once with Shift-click, nudge them precisely with the arrow keys, select everything, and move or delete them as a batch.
When you want to move or remove several items together, you can select them all at once instead of one at a time.
Select several items
- Click the first item you want to select
- Hold the Shift key and click each additional item you want to add to your selection
- Keep Shift-clicking to add more, or Shift-click an already-selected item to remove it from the selection
Select everything
To select every item on your canvas at once, press:
- Windows: Ctrl and
A - Mac: Cmd and
A
Nudge your selection with the arrow keys
Once you have items selected, you can move them a small, precise amount with the arrow keys:
- Select one or more items
- Press the arrow keys (left, right, up, or down) to nudge the selection in that direction
- Hold the Shift key while pressing an arrow key to nudge in bigger steps
This is handy for lining things up exactly without dragging.
Delete several items at once
- Select the items you want to remove
- Press the Delete key (or Backspace on a Mac)
- All the selected items are removed together
Undo a batch change
Added or deleted several items at once and want to take it back? A batch change undoes cleanly in a single step. Click the undo button in the bottom left corner of the canvas, or press Ctrl and Z (Cmd and Z on Mac). See Undo and Redo for more.
Tips
- Press the Esc key at any time to clear your selection and start fresh.
- Shift-click is the quickest way to group a few items so you can nudge or delete them in one go.
