How do I zoom in and out on my design?

Use the zoom toolbar to zoom in for detail or out for the whole picture, fit or fill your design on screen, go fullscreen, and use handy keyboard shortcuts.

The zoom toolbar sits at the bottom of the canvas and gives you quick ways to get closer to a detail or step back and see your whole design.

The zoom toolbar

From left to right, the toolbar gives you:

  • A zoom slider. Drag it right to zoom in and left to zoom out for fine control over how close you are.
  • A zoom percentage button. It shows your current zoom level (for example, "100%"). Click it to open a menu of preset levels.
  • A fullscreen button. Click it to fill your whole screen with the canvas. Click it again to return to the normal view.

Jump to a zoom level

  1. Click the percentage button (the one showing your current zoom, like "100%")
  2. In the menu, click a preset level (200%, 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, or 10%)
  3. The canvas snaps to that zoom level

The menu also has two handy framing options at the bottom:

  • Fit zooms so your entire design fits on screen at once. This is the fastest way to see everything after you have been working up close.
  • Fill zooms so your design fills the canvas edge to edge.

Go fullscreen

  1. Click the fullscreen button on the right end of the toolbar
  2. The canvas expands to fill your whole screen
  3. To leave fullscreen, click the button again or press the Esc key

Keyboard shortcuts

If you prefer the keyboard, these shortcuts work anywhere on the canvas:

ActionWindowsMac
Zoom inCtrl and +Cmd and +
Zoom outCtrl and -Cmd and -
Reset to 100%Ctrl and 0Cmd and 0

Tips

  • Zoom in before you place a plant or object when you want to line it up precisely, then use Fit to check how it looks in the whole design.
  • Your zoom level also affects what an export captures. If you save your design as an image, it grabs what's currently on screen, so zoom to frame it the way you want first. See Save as Image.
